Li & Fung case presented in Mater in Marketing
CEGEA prepares three reports for the Ponta Delgada’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry
Internationalization to the ASEAN Market
We had the pleasure of receiving another speaker on International Marketing classes: Hugo Volz Oliveira – business development manager of Li & Fung (www.lifung.com). Li & Fung was founded against a backdrop of great change in China. Fung Pak-liu, an English teacher, and Li To-ming, a merchant, established Li & Fung in 1906 as one of the first companies financed solely by Chinese capital to export to the West. Li & Fung now operates one of the most extensive global supply chain networks in the world. With over 22,000 people in more than 230 offices and distribution centers across 40 different markets, the company uses extensive global reach, depth of experience, market knowledge, and technology to help brands and retailers respond quickly to evolving consumer and production trends.
By request of Ponta Delgada’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in the context of the ORIENTA_EMPRESAS Project - Collective Actions to Support the Eastern Group's Companies, CEGEA conducted three studies aiming to foster competitiveness and exports and to promote the utilization of endogenous resources by local businesses from three Azorean municipalities: Ponta Delgada, Ribeira Grande and Vila do Porto.
We had on the 5th of March the chance to listen the presentations of Martha Octavia, Audry Maulana and Tanvir Singh Badwal, international consultants of SPI, on the Internationalization to the ASEAN Market. Guest speakers on the International Marketing course of the MSc in Marketing from Católica Porto Business School were invited by the course coordinator, Susana Costa e Silva. The speakers provided useful information on internationalization opportunities in the Indonesian, Singaporean and Thai markets. At the end, students from a dozen different nationalities had a rich debate on the challenges of those Asian markets.
