(Former Mini MBA)

This short-term executive training programme is structured around a set of six modules that provide a complete and integrated view of the company. Its mission is to contribute to the development of personal skills for organisational modernisation and, following the latest innovative trends, enhance productivity gains through improvements in corporate governance structure.

It is an immersion programme, in which participants are removed from their normal working environment to attend each of the specific modules. Each module works intensively on a highly pragmatic basis.
It is addressed, in particular, to all individuals who hold professional positions in companies - whether integrated into policy or technical teams. To the extent that it emphasises the professional skills of participants, it is not required a university degree to candidates. This action values, particularly the professional experience and the integration of participants in a dynamic business environment open to change.

Generally, the content of each module was defined as having a common line of guidance the need to motivate all resources within the company, enhancing its effectiveness and contributing to improved productivity and competitiveness. The syllabus and methodological approaches are geared to specific problems, primarily suited to the reality of the business and the contemporary challenges of globalisation. At the same time, in each subject is also taken into account the skills and career paths of the respective participants.

Having a Law degree and having enriched my academic career always in areas of Law, I had felt the need not only to acquire competences in management area, but also to open new horizons, in fields of knowledge that, by nature, were beyond my comfort zone. It was for this purpose that I sought the Intensive Management Programme of Católica Porto Business School. The fact that it is a nationally and internationally recognized and accredited institution has further strengthened the sense of my choice.

The Intensive Management Program, with duration and schedule compatible with the simultaneous exercise of my professional activity and essential reconciliation of personal life, allowed me to obtain a strategic and integrated vision of a company in several areas, such as Marketing, People and Operations Management, Strategy and Competitiveness.

As the School has a close connection with the business environment, it is important to emphasize that the content of the classes corresponds to the real organizations needs and businesses, in an eminently practical learning scenario, guided to the concrete challenges of the companies. The challenge throughout the course was a constant stimulus, in order to instill an effective capacity to question, to think critically, to rethink strategies and paths, to build our own solutions and to identify new challenges. Without doubt, it was a goal accomplished, an experience that I highly recommend!

I strongly recommend the Intensive Management Programme of Católica Porto Business School. I consider it’s absolutely indispensable for senior private or public business executives, for the scientific and practical relevance of the contents, for the quality and competence of the faculty, for the efficient organization of activities and for the opportunity to exchange knowledge and experiences in an interdisciplinary environment. I would also like to highlight the participation in the management simulation game that greatly contributed to the knowledge and skills consolidation.

Testimonials

"The Intensive Management Programme (former mini MBA) in Católica Porto Business School was an option made into seeking to increase skills in the management area.
This course, either by returning to the academic context, taught curriculum content and the excellence of teachers (!),the experiences shared by all participants coming from various fields of activity, caused cleavages that will be definite. I will miss it (from the reception, academic services, teachers and peers, to the premises).
I am now "richer" and more prepared. I thank this enrichment to all those who participated in this process.
Being back to school several years after leaving was exhilarating. Studying, preparing presentations and group work was motivating.
Could I have done this course at any other school? Of course I could. But it would be the same! "

“In 2012, after several years as a doctor in charge of the intervention endoscopy, I was appointed director of the Gastroenterology Service. Moving from a highly technical profile function into a function with large management component, was the reason why I decided to look for a training programme in this area.
My choice for the Intensive Management Programme (former mini-MBA) resulted from my desire to perform an initial training in management, intentionally general in scope, a course of the areas / core disciplines of any company.
The balance of this my first adventure outside medicine, was extremely rewarding, and indeed exceeded my expectations. The quality of the programme and its teachers is high and the current organisation is excellent.
The notions that I acquired during this course, were very helpful, allowing me to structure my thoughts as a manager; the very pragmatic nature of this formation, resulted in the implementation of various improvements in my service, based on learned notions and cases during the mini-MBA.”
