O excesso de dados, ou infobesity (como conotado por Alvin Toffler já em 1970) exige às empresas novos mecanismos de organização e tratamento dos dados para que estes possam ser utilizados no processo de tomada de decisão. São os processos de Business Analytics que permitem a conversão de dados em informação e em valor para a empresa.
